Eye has an alternate weekly collection service, collecting rubbish one week and recycling the next. The majority of households are provided with two wheeled bins, one for recycling and one for refuse.
Extra recycling can be put out beside the recycling bin in clear bags, or in authorised clear bags; extra rubbish can only be put out in authorised orange bags by the rubbish bin.
A new garden waste brown bin service is being rolled out across Mid Suffolk. There is a fee for this service, and you can find out more on their website. Otherwise garden waste can be put out on rubbish collection days in authorised green bags.
A Hazardous Waste disposal service is also available for £37.50. Find out more
Local Recycling sites for glass, paper and fabric are found in the main car park next to the Library.
Brome Community Recycling Centre (closed)
Brome Community Recycling Centre is currently CLOSED for reorganisation. Mid Suffolk District Council is looking into options for the possible re-opening of the site. Updates will be posted on the Mid Suffolk website.
Until the facility is re-opened, residents wishing to dispose of household waste and/or recyclables can take it to the free recycling centre at Stowmarket (Old Bury Road, Stowmarket, Suffolk, IP14 1JQ), which is open 9 until 4, Monday to Saturday and 10 until 4 on Sunday; or to the free one at Morningthorpe (north of Long Stratton; turn east off the A140 along the B1527 towards Hempnall, the site is signposted after a couple of miles or so), open 9 until 4, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
In the meantime people must not leave items in front of the closed gate as this would be considered fly-tipping, which carries substantial penalties, and we would like to remind you there are a number of CCTV cameras operating in the area.
