The 2,000 acre Thornham Estate in north Suffolk has diversified, developed and adapted to suit the needs of people living in the 21st century. Activities on the Estate include country Walks and the Walled Garden.
The 12 miles of waymarked walks on the Thornham Estate known as Thornham Walks are managed by the Thornham Walks Countryside Officer who is funded by Mid Suffolk District Council.
A surfaced path, suitable for both push chairs and wheel chairs, leads for half a mile to the Thornham Walled Garden and takes the walker past the newly refurbished bird hide, the pets’ cemetery, along the Thornham Rock Trail to the Victorian Folly.
THORNHAM WALLED GARDEN
In the Garden we provide a therapeutic environment which promotes personal growth.
Follow the surfaced path from the main car park or drive directly to the Walled Garden following the map on the contacts page. A ten year project has brought the garden back from many years of neglect. The Victorian greenhouses have been renovated with Heritage Lottery funding and the Garden now provides a working environment for people with disabilities as well as disaffected young people.
