The Archery Club
Since gaining her GNAS (Grand National Archery Society) qualification in 2002, Wendy Spencer has taught Archery to Cubs, Scouts, Brownies and Guides, and many children at the Hartismere Playscheme. She now also teach adults, many of them Senior Citizens!
Wendy says “many of the children had asked me why there wasn’t somewhere locally for them to shoot on a regular basis, without the expense of joining a club. So, in November 2007, with some trepidation, I opened St. Edmund’s Arrows. Since then we’ve gone from strength to strength, with many of my Archers moving on into Club situations where they have the option to attend competitions.”
Wendy provides one hour lessons on a weekly basis for adults and children from the age of 9 years upwards. She is a Registered Childminder and a Guide Leader in Eye, so is fully CRB checked, “for the children’s safety and the parents’ peace of mind.”
The Archery Club meets on Sundays from 10.30am- 2.00pm, at Permastore Sports and Social Club, Eye. Classes are £8 per hour, and all equipment is supplied.
The Club is always happy to see new faces, so if you’re interested, please telephone Wendy Spencer on 01379 871125.
Botolph’s Bowmen is located close to the borders of Suffolk and Norfolk. Primarily a Target club, they also welcome members who wish to shoot other types of archery. The club has the pleasure to shoot within the grounds of The Cornwallis Arms hotel, near Eye in Suffolk, as its outdoor venue.
