Eye Town Centre Traffic Review
Eye Town Council made the decision to procure the services of the MLM Group to gather evidence to present to Suffolk County Council for an Eye Town Centre Traffic Review. The report analyses traffic conditions and volumes, with particular regard to HGV traffic movements in the centre of town. Its primary purpose is to support the town council’s objective to lobby for an extension of a weight limit to additional roads which pass through the centre of town.
The main data was gathered using five automatic traffic counters sited at strategic points in the town’s road network. This was supplement by photographic evidence collected by the TOOOT group (Trucks out of our Town), resident’s and local business testimonials. The whole community now needs to support our County Councillor in lobbying for this weight limit extension and to apply pressure through the democratic process to highlight the safety issues that the report clearly demonstrates. We all want to make our town centre a safer place for residents, pedestrians, and other road users. This independent report is an important first step.
