Water quality in Eye
The following was received by NWL on behalf of Essex and Suffolk Water in regards to the recent social media articles/comments.
In response to the post we issued last week we’ve had some information through from Essex and Suffolk water to help reassure residents.
They’ve asked us to share this on their behalf:
As part of a water testing scheme in the old town area of Eye, we’ve found a handful of properties where the lead levels in the water have been a little higher than what they should be.
We’re currently investigating this and looking to establish the cause. It’s likely that this is down to old pipe work still in place to some properties and plans are being prepared to replace these.
The vast majority of the testing scheme has shown that the water quality in Eye is satisfactory and there are no concerns about lead in the wider area.
The local schools and church have all been tested and lead levels and the water quality is all satisfactory also.
We are attending the Town Council meeting in November to discuss this with the community.
