Stowmarket District Scouts offers adventure, fun, a sense of belonging and skills for life to the young people in the towns and villages of our area (covering Stowmarket, Needham Market, Eye, Bacton, Debenham, Elmswell, Mendelsham, Wetherden and surrounding villages). We currently have around 690 young people aged 4-18 supported by 220 amazing adult volunteers.

The Scout District is a charity and has a board of trustees (the District Executive Committee) who support and enable Scouting to thrive in the area. The trustees are hardworking and committed and many have front line volunteering roles within Groups in the District.

We currently have vacancies for a District Treasurer and a District Secretary and I am writing to ask to see if you can help me fill these vacancies.

The District Treasurer role would suit someone with a financial/ accountancy background who understands charity finance. The District Secretary role would suit someone who is an excellent administrator, who is used to taking minutes and good at capturing and following up action points. We meet every two months.

However, most important for both roles is a strong affinity with Scouting’s values and a desire to help young people in our community have an opportunity to experience the benefit of Scouting.

I would be very grateful if you would share our ask with Councilors and others in your community to see if they know anyone who might fit the bill. I would be very pleased to speak with anyone who might be interested themselves or on behalf of someone else.
