Proclamation ceremony for the new monarch in Eye on Sunday 11 September at 3.30pm at the Eye Town Hall steps
“The Proclamation” is the official announcement of the new monarch. A new Sovereign succeeds to the throne as soon as his or her predecessor dies and is proclaimed as soon as possible at an Accession Council in St James’ Palace.
It has been confirmed that the reign of His Majesty King Charles III will be proclaimed across Suffolk on Sunday 11 September. In Suffolk this will happen when the Proclamation is read from the balcony of Ipswich Town Hall at 1pm.
A further reading of the Proclamation will then take place two hours later in Eye, at 3.30pm, as well as in 22 other towns across the county.
This is to invite you to the reading of the Proclamation in Eye on the steps of the Town Hall at 3.30pm on Sunday 11th September 2022.
This will mark the accession of His Majesty King Charles III
Please join us in receiving the Proclamation and wishing His Majesty strength, wisdom and courage to carry out his duties.
