Victoria Mill Allotments
Looking after an allotment is a great way to produce healthy low cost food for you and your family and keep fit at the same time. What is so special about an allotment is it is a community garden where the more seasoned gardeners can give you the benefit of their experience. New comers are welcome for their fresh ideas that inspire the more established allotment holders. It’s wonderful place to meet people; swap ideas; gain gardening knowledge and learn new skills. Whether you want to save the pennies or are looking for a new hobby, Why not give an allotment at Eye a try.

Normal allotment size is 10 rods but smaller allotments are sometimes available. For reference the size of 1 rod = 5.5 yards (reputedly the distance from the back of the plough to the nose of the oxen!). Therefore a square rod (in which allotments are measured is 30.25 sq yards) thus a standard 10 rod plot is 302.5 sq yards = 2722.5 sq ft (that’s approximately 250 square metres) This is about the size of the penalty area on a football pitch
The Victoria Mill Allotments can be found off Castleton Way in Eye.
