Courtesy Crossings in Eye
The Town Council recently received the email below from the Council’s Website: -
‘Is it possible to educate / inform the small minority of persons in Eye town who believe it is correct to step into the road on the “courtesy crossings” & expect vehicles to stop within a few feet, in this instance six feet, while I was driving at circa 15 M.P.H’
The wording in the driving test literature states that these “courtesy crossings” allow for a safer place to cross, there is no statutory requirement for drivers to give way to pedestrians as they are at Zebra crossings etc.
Please could residents take care whilst using these crossings in the town centre.
Wendy Alcock – Town Clerk.
