Founded in 2011 by singer and guitarist Antonio Riva, Le Gazhikane Muzikante are a London-based group of non-gypsy musicians who play original arrangements of traditional and beautiful folk songs from South Eastern Europe and the Mediterranean area.

Their diverse musical background adds a “distinctive and very personal touch to haunting and passionate, yet simple and pure” musical interpretations, creating “a beautiful Eastern folk sound with a rich oriental undercurrent” [Jamboree Venue].

The band has performed at a number of folk and other music venues, literary and charity events and functions, including Jamboree Venue, Ritzy Brixton, Bedroom Bar, Cecil Sharp House, University College London and The Poetry Cafe amongst others. The band was invited to perform as representative gypsy music ensemble at the Hop Farm Festival 2013. The band has completed a very successful mini-tour in Crete in April 2014
