Details of the forthcoming Women on Wheels (WoW) event, which will take place in Debenham on Saturday 24th September 2016:
WoW events are charity bike rides for women and girls of all ages and abilities. They are aimed at inspiring beginner/returning/recreational cyclists to get on their bikes to take part in an event that is fun, friendly and sociable. The routes are of achievable distances and it is all about participation and giving it a go, rather than any sort of competition. WoW rides took place in Bury St Edmunds and Sudbury in 2015, attracting around 300 participants in total and raising around £12,000 for local charities, and now we will be hosting the first event in Mid-Suffolk.
WoW Debenham is being organised by Debenham Sports & Leisure, raising funds for Debenham Community Swimming Pool project – it is very much organised by the community for the community. There will be 6 mile, 15.5 mile and 22 mile routes, with a refreshment stop in Stradbroke on the longer ride and a barbecue at the start/finish of the event, which is at Debenham Leisure Centre. The 6 mile ride costs just £5.00 to enter; the two longer rides cost just £10.00.
