Eye water quality ??? Yesterday October 19th at Eye Town Council meeting residents from the town raised the issue of water quality in the Suffolk town. Many have had issues with the quality of their water supply in the Eye area. Reports of lead in their water and having to take medical tests for lead. Being advised to drink bottle water from single use plastic bottles. Eye Town Council have been proactive in this matter arranging for a representative from NWG living water @nwgtws
to attend and answer your questions at the next full Eye Town Council Meeting on November 16th at 7.30 pm.
If you have any questions about the quality of your water ???? or can provide any evidence of water contamination or medical ???? issues. Please email the town clerk townclerk@eyesuffolk.org This will enable you to get the best answers to your questions on the night. All questions must be received by November 7th to enable NWG the parent company of Essex and Suffolk Water to respond. If you have no issues but would like to attend you are very welcome, however it would help if you could email your intentions to help with numbers. This meeting will be held in the ground floor main hall to assist mobility and offer wheelchair access.
There are many definitions of an empty home. Council Tax legislation counts a property as a long-term empty home when it has been empty of:
for six months or more.
Since April 2019, if a property remains empty for more than two years, an Empty Homes Premium is applied. This means that additional Council Tax will be payable.
A long-term empty home is also defined as a property that has been unoccupied for six months or longer and has nobody occupying it on a regular basis – whether it is furnished or not. This is the definition Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils will use to identify and target action against empty properties.
The government wants to increase the number of empty homes that are brought back into use. It is a sustainable way to increase the overall supply of housing, and to reduce blight on neighbourhoods. The government wants builders, investors, and local councils to increase the supply of repurposed empty homes.
The Councils aim to reduce the number of long-term empty properties within the districts, by bringing empty properties back into use and discouraging owners from leaving them empty.

Eye Town Council is planning to make improvements to Oak Crescent Park in Eye Suffolk, for adults, young people and children. The town council seeks your view on these proposed designs for a new children’s play area, and a fitness trail for young people. Depending on the funding it receives Eye Town Council hopes to install equipment very similar to the image shown.
