A preliminary meeting on a proposed £200 million gas-fired power station in Eye is set to be held in Diss later this month.
A Development Consent Order (DCO) from developers Progress Power was accepted last month.
It will be held at the Park Hotel, Diss, on Thursday, July 24. Doors open at 9.30am for a 10am start, and is open to the public.
The Paddock House residents and staff were pleased to welcome many visitors at the fête on Saturday 14th June. The sun came out and £700 was raised towards the residents’ Amenity Fund – summer outings etc.
As part of the East of England Co-op’s “Every Minute Counts” campaign, they will be installing a Community Access Defibrillator in Eye. The equipment will be installed on the Fire Station in Lambseth Street.
Eye mayor-elect Caroline Byles was welcomed to her new position at a ceremony on Sunday.
The Gislingham Silver Band led local community groups and organisations, together with Town Councillors and invited dignitaries in a parade from the Fire Station to St. Peter and St. Paul’s Church for Sunday Service. Eye library will not be moving to the proposed Cross Street location.
After three years of discussions and proposals surrounding the relocation of the Library from Buckshorn Lane to Cross Street, Suffolk Country Council have deemed the move too expensive. Read more →
A message from Robin and Kathleen Knight…..
Last night we attended the Town Hall for the Eye Annual Town Meeting which was quite fortuitous as Penny, Felicity and I had had a meeting that morning to discuss the progress of the cookery book. We were reminded by the various speakers yet again just how lucky we are to have so many talented and helpful people in our town. Oh, yes, our Town Hall was mentioned, and yes we were reminded that we need to spend money on preserving and using it as it is probably one of the quirkiest buildings of its type in the county and it’s ours.
So, I am pleased to say that recipes are coming in now, and what a wonderful selection we have already, but we are greedy, we need lot more just so that you will feel inspired to try something different, test your taste buds.
We have a cut-off date of 31st July, in order to prep for publication and organise a tasting.

As many of you are already aware, Pauline Seeley had a nasty fall at the end of last week, and broke a leg. She needed an operation on what was a serious fracture, and remained in hospital until yesterday. Happily, she is now home again. As you can imagine, Tony’s priority has been and will remain the care of his wife.
I understand the Eye Post Office is privately owned and operated, and is not thus part of a centrally managed operation. The future will very much depend on how things progress within the Seeley family.
I will update you as soon as I have further information on the subject of re-opening.
Meanwhile, I am sure you will wish to join with me in sending best wishes to Pauline for a speedy recovery.
