New Eye Town mayor Caroline Byles says council “full of talent” to tackle issues

Incoming Eye town mayor Caroline Byles says the town is facing big challenges – but believes the council is “full of talent” to tackle them.

“Concerned” MPs write to developers over power station plan

Two “extremely concerned” Suffolk MPs have written to the developers of a proposed £200-million gas-fired station planned for Eye, amid the application for the project being submitted to the Planning Inspectorate.

Progress Power, which hopes to build the station at Eye Airfield, submitted the application on March 31. Read more →

Cash boost for Eye Community Centre

Eye town mayor Linda Cummins presented a cheque for £180 to Eye Community Centre at the start of its monthly bingo night.

The money was raised by a successful Saturday afternoon bridge session, organised by the mayor, and helped by members of Eye bridge club who meet every Wednesday at the centre. Read more →

Heating Oil Thefts – Protect Your Oil

Around 600ltrs of heating oil were stolen from a tank at a home in Cock Road, Eye sometime between 9am Sunday 23rd & 5pm Sunday 30th March.

Also, at around 3.30am Sunday morning, 31st March, a window was smashed at a home in Cross Street, Eye.

BBC Travel Program Looks for Eye Homeowner

We’re looking to find people who live in interesting homes around the UK, who would be happy to try a home swap short break over a weekend in the next few months. The programme will give us a great opportunity to explore home swapping, different property, and local foods/trades and sights around the UK.

Oak Crescent Properties available

You will probably be aware of the new development at Oak Crescent in Eye.  The properties are going to be ready for occupation mid-May and I would like to advise  that they are being advertised on the Gateway to Homechoice website  http://www.gatewaytohomechoice.org.uk/Data/ASPPages/1/71.aspx .  If you know anyone with a local connection to Eye who is interested in these properties please can you advise them to bid this week.  The properties are subject to a 106 agreement which gives priority to those with a local connection to Eye (conditions apply).
